Final Round this weekend!
The weather report is good, so we will hopefully see the remaining Round 9 matches played this weekend. Please check the fixtures page as some field changes have been updated today.

Round 10 Cancelled
Having put Round 9 on hold for the last 4 weeks due to the condition of the grounds, we now find ourselves short of weekends to play the final round of the season. As such, we must regretfully cancel Round 10. Round 9 will be the final round of the 2008 CIFL season. This will allow teams to complete their outstanding fixtures.
Regards,
Barry
Round 9 Postponed another week
Due to too many ground closures tomorrow (including school grounds) because they are still so wet, all Interchurch Soccer matches are postponed.
We are looking to see how to end the season with the two remaining weekends left. We have secured South Hagley Park on the 6th September for the Ansvar Cup Tournament which will be a “do or die” effort because it is the only weekend we can have for it.
My apologies for the disruptions, but it is out of my control.
Regards,
Barry
Round 9 Postponed a third time
We have again been contacted by Mainland Football and a school requested that we do not play on the grounds this week as they have not yet recovered from the poor weather conditions of the last few weeks.
This delay will impact our ability to complete all matches before the end of August (when the soccer posts are due to be removed). We will post an updated match schedule soon.
Regards,
Barry
Edgar Macintosh playing fields
Due to the poor condition of the grounds, Mainland Football have only a limited number of fields available this week. Edgar Macintosh is not available so the Division 3 matches scheduled (FGC v ENV and CNU v VCR) are now moved to Riccarton 1 & 2 at 1pm. Please contact me if the new kick off time presents a problem for your team.
Please note that this only in the event that the weather holds and the matches go ahead.
Regards,
Barry
Round 9 Postponed (again)
Due to the continued poor weather, the grounds are still saturated. Mainland Football has requested that all matches are postponed another week. As this overlaps with Round 10 the dates for that round and the Ansvar cup are to be confirmed.
Regards,
Barry
Round 9 Postponed
Due to the condition of the grounds, Mainland Football has requested that all matches are postponed until next Saturday (August 2nd).

Barry
Results from Round 8
As we approach the end of the season, Division 2 teams will note that they have now been split into Group A and Group B. They are now playing for 2 seperate shields. The group you are in will not change irrespective of the points that you gain over the final 3 rounds.
Division 3 please note that your draw is a little more complicated and some of you will be required to play in the 'off' week between round 9 and 10 in order to balance the total number of games played and finish the season at the same time as the other divisions.
Please check the website regularly for details.
Regards,
Barry
Results from Round 6
We are now moving down to the business end of the season. Division 1 are playing each other a second time to see who will come out the league winner on points.
Division 2 and division 3 have one more round to complete before they move into play-offs. Teams in these divisions will need to ensure that they've caught up on any outstanding matches by July 5th to ensure the draw for the play-offs is fair.
Regards,
Barry
Results from Round 5
The results from the fifth weekend of play are now up. May I remind you to include Christian Points when submitting your scores. Please also remember to get your results in by 12pm Sunday and if you're texting, please identify who you are.
We are now at the half-way point of the season, so if you have more than 1 game to catch up on, you will need to get a wriggle on! The balance of the draw will be posted on here after this coming weekend.
We have 4 matches playing catch-up this weekend. Your previously allocated fields are still suitable for these games.
Regards,
Barry
Results from Round 4
Results from the fourth weekend of play are now live. Some of our school grounds are back for the balance of the season so I encourage all players to check the fixtures table on the website the day before match weekend to confirm what ground you are playing on. If we have to cancel any matches due to wet weather, the cancellation will also be posted here as well as announced on 3ZB Sportstalk.
As we come to the midway point in the season, it would be wise to take stock of what catch-up games need to be played as these must be completed before we get to the end of the initial draw (which is dependent on what division your team is in).
Regards,
Barry
League Table
The league table has now been updated with the lastest results. Please note that Mairehau High School is not currently available for fixtures. If you had a game scheduled at Mairehau, then please check the Fixtures for your reallocated fields.
Results from Round 3
The results from the third weekend of play are now up. Thanks for getting your results in promptly as it makes my job a little easier. There are still a few teams forgetting to give Christian Points with their results. If you're one of those teams, then please take note as it will cost you CP if you fail to do so.
If you are still using the original draw from the beginning of the season then please discard it. The playing fields listed on that draw are out of date. The correct grounds are now posted here every Thursday evening prior to a match weekend. If there are cancellations due to wet weather, a notice will be posted here as well as announced on 3ZB Sportstalk.
Regards,
Barry
Round 3 Postponed
Due to the adverse weather conditions, all matches are postponed until next Saturday (May 10th).
Regards,
Barry
Results from Round 2
Thank you for your feedback regarding the website. We will continue to improve it throughout the season.
There are several matches that have been postponed so please remember that any postponed matches playing on the ‘off’ weeks have priority over ‘friendly’ matches when it comes to ground use. The only catch-up I am aware of for 26th April is GFC v KNH at Middleton Grange 1.
Some teams have not yet submitted their results while others are forgetting to give Christian Points. You should all be into the swing of it by now, so from next week, if you fail to send in your score, you will loose a CP and if you fail to give Christian Points for the other team, you will also lose a CP.
Another small area of clarification needed is when a player goes down injured, the game does not stop until the referee blows his whistle and when he blows the whistle the ball is to be kicked out of play. The match is not considered time-out until the ball is out of play. Please, be sensible about this. Please keep you eye here for advised fields of play before your next match.
Regards,
Barry
Results from Round 1
The season has got off to a good start with only one or two ‘hiccups’ on the day.
Just a reminder to all captains regarding the offside rule. We have problems with the interpretation of this rule every year yet it is so simple. If an ‘attacking’ player is in an ‘off-side position’ when a player of the same team passes the ball, then the player in the off-side position is deemed to have committed an off-side infringement irrespective of whether that player is involved in the next play of the ball or not. Please make sure your referees are aware of this.
A mini draw for next week showing rounds to use will be posted shortly.
Regards,
Barry
Season 2008 Kick Off
The CIFL kicks off this weekend for it's twenty forth consecutive year.
This year we will see some minor changes in the line up as we say goodbye to Spreydon Strikers, Centre Lions, Phillipstown Inc and Waltham Woodcutters. We are also happy to welcome Full Gospel Church, Lincoln Baptist and South City United 2 to the league and look forward to meeting them on the field.
All team organisors should now have a copy of the league draw. Please be aware that as we are starting earlier this year, some of our regular school based playing fields will not have their posts up until Term 2 begins. In the interim we will be using fields allocated to us by Mainland Football. Please check this site before match weekend to ensure that your team will be meeting at the correct playing field.
Regards,
Barry
